"Machines, friends or foes?"

Ever since the beginning of time, human civilization has been trying to get their work done easily. They say that the wheel has been the most revolutionary invention till date. We couldn't agree more because nearly every single machine on this planet runs on the mechanism of wheel. The wheel really did speed up the progress of human beings from primitive to advanced living beings.

Upto the iron age, operation of machines required manpower. This resulted in lots of misfortunes as we lost many people in factory accidents. It was felt that we needed something safer, to get our work done. Then came the digital technology to our rescue, opening newer doors of innovation.

Now we live in a world where everything is possible with just the click of a button. Modern day computers can operate even a nuclear weapon system. With so much ease of doing anything with machines, is it really true that we have achieved peace and happiness?

The answer is a big no. Like we said earlier, at the click of a button, even world war can happen. The technology which was aimed to ease up our lives is now being used for destructive purposes.

The alarming increase in the numbers of weapons of mass destruction is the undeniable proof of this. Nations across the world are hiring top notch scientists to design disastrous weapons that could wipe off a whole county in a matter of a few minutes.

The ever increasing usage of computers, smartphones and other gadgets are draining all the life out of this confused mankind. Man has confined himself to the space of his electronic screen, thinking it to be his wonderland. Cognitive abilities, social and interpersonal skills are on a constant decline due to uncontrolled exposure to the digital world.

Machines, which were invented to make things easier for us, have now become our very bosses. We have verily become the slave of machines. This often makes me question, are machines really our friends, or our foes? I leave the answer to this question for the readers to decide.
